Mona High win 2-0
MONA HIGH School defeated St Catherine High School 2-0 in their ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup quarter-final group one football game this afternoon at Stadium East.
Robino Gordon scored a double in the fourth and 22nd minutes, keeping his team's chances of a semi-final spot alive, as the Mona Road-based school set up a winner-take-all showdown with St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS) on Friday in their final group game.
Both Mona High and STATHS are tied on three points after two matches, but STATHS have a superior goal difference. Defending champions Jamaica College lead the group with six points, this after defeating STATHS 5-3 in the day's opening match..
Ontwain Mitchell of St Catherine High was given a red card, this after receiving a second yellow card in the second half.
With the result, their second loss in as many games, St Catherine were eliminated from semi-final contention.
