Former prison officer pleads guilty to murdering wife

GEORGETOWN (CMC):
A former prison officer who barged into the New Amsterdam Psychiatric Hospital where his wife worked and stabbed her to death is to be sentenced on March 1.
Sheldon Prince Monday pleaded guilty to the murder of Lonnette Prince when he went before Justice Sandil Kissoon at the Berbice High Court.
The court heard that Prince, on December 28, 2016, armed with a knife, barged into the compound of the New Amsterdam Psychiatric Hospital where his wife worked as a hairdresser and stabbed her numerous times.
The judge has ordered a probation report and deferred sentencing to March 1.
