Under 20 world champion Jaydon Hibbert's indoor mark of 17.54m has been ratified by World Athletics as the outright Under 20 world record.

World Athletics made the announcement in a release today.

Hibbert's leap last March at the NCAA Indoor Championships not only broke the collegiate record but broke the indoor record set by France's Melvin Raffin (17.20) in March 2017 and the 17.50 outdoor mark set by East Germany's Voller Mai in June 1985.

Hibbert would jump further this season, in a new personal best of 17.87 in May, which is currently the best jump in the world this year.

According to the release, that mark is pending ratification and if approved will stand as the outdoor Under 20 world record while the 17.54 will remain as the indoor world record.

Hibbert is expected to make his Diamond League debut in Monaco tomorrow.
