Serving others ‘Beyond Boundary’
Christian-based organisation to host annual medical outreach in MoBay
In today’s world, the importance of giving back is often overlooked. However, for the members of Beyond Boundary, a Christian-based organisation, creating a positive impact on people’s lives can help to make the world a better place.
Beyond Boundary was founded in 2023 by Dr Margaret Sinclair, along with other partners, including Pauline Baugh Taylor, Sandria Williams and Dr Carmen Bartley. The group’s core areas of focus include outreach in the medical, education and spiritual fields.
According to Dr Sinclair, their mission is to serve in accordance with the injunction of Luke 4 verse 18.
“Our objective is to help others to lead healthy lives by providing free medical services, to help improve people’s economic status by educating them, and to spread the gospel through evangelistic outreach,” Dr Sinclair told GoodHeart.
The Salt Spring community in Montego Bay, St James is set to host its annual outreach medical programme on March 23 and 24. Additionally, neighbouring communities such as Glendevon, Granville, and Flankers will also receive assistance during the event.
“Giving back, or reciprocity, is one of the fundamentals of our donors and associates, hence, one of the cornerstones of Beyond Boundary. We return some of the blessings that God has bestowed on us to others,” Dr Sinclair said.
She went on to emphasise that persons benefit from the initiatives based on need and accessibility to the communities in which they reside, “From a newborn to the elderly can benefit from the medical programme. Healthcare is one of the most expensive areas of daily living. So to give excellent medical care, particularly to those who normally cannot afford, it is a blessing.”
The communities this year will have access to services such as complete medical examination, blood pressure and sugar screenings, and imaging services. Despite not having an ophthalmologist last year, Beyond Boundary distributed several reading glasses and ensured that each person received the appropriate magnification in reading glasses.
Some of the sponsors include people who were born and bred in Salt Spring, past Harrisonians, Seventh-day Adventists and other Christians, local corporations such as Qualcare, and international ones such as One Sight, DepPatch, and The Bath, giving back financially through support, encouragement, and service participation.
Pauline Baugh Taylor, one of the board members of the group, said she was excited to be a part of Beyond Boundary. “As a servant of Christ, I am extending His love, compassion and healing ministry to those who are in need.” Adding, she explained, “This is important because we are helping others to be or stay physically well. In coming out to participate, they are being proactive in their own care. For example, as they are given monitors, they are able to do daily blood pressure monitoring. This, in turn, leads to a healthier life and home. Children and communities will be impacted.”
