Ex-soldier accused of stealing rental car to go on trial
A former Jamaica Defence Force soldier accused of failing to return a rental car is to go on trial in the St Catherine Parish Court on August 23.
Ricardo Dacres is charged with larceny of a motor vehicle.
The date was set when the matter was mentioned in court today.
Allegations that Dacres rented a Toyota Voxy motor car on March 11 for three days.
Upon expiration of the contract, he reportedly failed to returned the vehicle.
The complainant allegedly made numerous attempts to contact Dacres, which proved futile.
As a result, a report was made to the Spanish Town police and an investigation was launched into the matter.
Dacres was subsequently apprehended by the police and later charged.
