Dalrymple-Philibert back as Trelawny Southern MP
Marisa Dalrymple-Philibert is back as the Member of Parliament for the Trelawny Southern constituency after winning today's by-election.
She polled 4,146 votes to independent candidate Lloyd Gillings' 1,434 votes.
Dalrymple-Philibert previously served the constituency for four consecutive terms as member of parliament but resigned as both Speaker of the House of Representative and MP on September 21 last year, amid a damning report from the Integrity Commission in which it was recommended that she be criminally charged.
The charges concern her declarations from 2015 to 2021 and her failure to declare a $6 million vehicle.
Some 25,041 electors were eligible to vote in today's by-election.
The poll had a voter turnout of 22.3 per cent.
