Mount Rosser resident imprisonment for severing man's finger with machete

A 58-year-old Mount Rosser, St Catherine resident was on Friday sentenced in the St Catherine Circuit Court to five years’ imprisonment for chopping off a man’s finger with a machete during a dispute at a shop.
Garnett Graham was sentenced by Justice Yvonne Brown for wounding with intent.
Brown described Graham as being bent on violence, noting that he has three previous convictions for similar offences.
According to the facts of the case, on Sunday, February 13, 2022, the complainant and Graham were involved in a dispute at a shop in Mount Rosser, during which Graham attacked the complainant with a machete, severing his left index finger.
A report was made to the Ewarton police, and an investigation was launched, which led to Graham’s arrest and subsequent charge.
He has been in custody since his arrest.
