Petrojam ready for hurricane season
State-owned oil refinery Petrojam says it is prepared for the North Atlantic Hurricane Season with supplies of all major fuel types valued about US$200 million (J$32 billion) at its Kingston and Montego Bay storage facilities.
“Our energy supply resiliency is strong, and we are ready,” declared Petrojam General Manager, Telroy Morgan.
He assured, “Ensuring swift and efficient delivery of much-needed fuel in the aftermath of a natural disaster is something we take very seriously. Our fuel supplies will therefore be critical to mobilising emergency response fleets, backup generators, disaster operations teams, air travel, businesses and consumers.”
Morgan says the experiences of past storms have provided valuable lessons to Petrojam. Among them, the need to bolster the country’s strategic fuel reserves, improve supplier relationships and enhance operational flexibility.
This provides Petrojam with the ability to supply two to three weeks, minimum, of finished petroleum products to the country, the company said in a media release on Tuesday.
