Man charged with arson over St Ann house fire
A 23-year-old man from St Ann has been charged with arson after he allegedly set fire to the home of another resident with whom he had an ongoing dispute.
The accused, Evan Whiter of Fort George, was charged following a police investigation into the April 10, 2024 incident in the community.
Reports from the St Ann’s Bay police indicate that around 8:30 p.m., Whiter went to the complainant’s house and allegedly set it on fire.
The police and fire department were alerted, and an investigation was launched.
During the probe, it was reportedly determined that Whiter was responsible for starting the blaze.
He was taken into custody and later charged following a question-and-answer session.
