Terrelonge believes projects implemented in St Catherine East Central will help him secure re-election

With a strong following of supporters accompanying him to the nomination centre in Cedar Grove, the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) candidate for St Catherine East Central Alando Terrelonge has indicated that the extensive work carried out by him will help to secure his third term as member of parliament come September 3, when electors vote for a new government.

The incumbent MP said electors in St Catherine East Central have benefitted from various programmes he implemented in the constituency.

According to Terrelonge education and infrastructural development programmes, social welfare programmes for single mothers, parents, children and the elderly are now bearing fruit in the constituency.

“These are all reasons why they come out to celebrate a member of parliament and for me it is an honour to be nominated for the third time to represent them in my third term on the third of September.”

He told journalists that extensive road repairs have been done in Cedar Grove, Southboro, Hamilton Gardens and Caymanas Gardens as well as Newlands, Gregory Park and Grange Lane.

Terrelonge said his education programme sends 3,500 students back to school.

“The Jamaica Labour Party is the party of choice, the party that promotes peace, productivity and prosperity. We are not into blood and war, we are not into blood and fire, we are not vampires over here, we are loving Jamaicans.”

Taking aim at his opponent, Terrelonge said he was “sick and tired of this political reject who comes across with the propaganda and the tricks and the gimmicks. We are about serious work”.

The incumbent MP was half an hour late for his nomination but sought to dismiss the issue when questions were put to him about his tardiness by journalists.

“My time is 1 o’clock, if you are going to start an interview that way I would appreciate if you start the interview correctly. I told them 1 o’clock sir,” Terrelonge declared.

However, when The Gleaner spoke with the returning officer at the Cedar Manor Community Centre she confirmed that the nomination for Terrelonge was set for 12:30 p.m.

The EOJ official explained that the JLP candidate had asked to be nominated at 1 p.m. but after further deliberations with the EOJ and the police Terrelonge agreed to a 12:30 p.m. timeline.
