Swiss Ambassador pays courtesy call at King’s House
Newly appointed Swiss Ambassador to Jamaica, Mr. Silvo Masnata, paid a courtesy call on Governor-General, the Most Hon. Florizel Glasspole, at King’s House yesterday, where he formally presented his credentials. Accompanied by Swiss Consul Mr. Peter Bangerter and his wife, the ambassador, engaged in cordial discussions with the Governor-General on topics such as population growth, education, and Switzerland’s watch industry.

Governor-General Receives New Swiss Ambassador
The new Swiss Ambassador to Jamaica, Mr. Silvo Masnata, who arrived on Monday from Mexico, presented his credentials to Governor-General, the Most Hon. Florizel Glasspole, at King’s House yesterday.
In an informal discussion that followed, the ambassador extended an open invitation to the Governor-General and Mrs. Glasspole to visit Switzerland at any time.
Accompanied by the Swiss Consul, Mr. Peter Bangerter, and his wife, the ambassador expressed that he had thoroughly enjoyed his visit to King’s House.
The Governor-General and his guests held informal talks on a range of topics, including the population explosion, Switzerland’s watch industry, education, and the European Common Market.
While the Governor-General met with Mr. Masnata and Mr. Bangerter in the main office on the second floor of King’s House, Mrs. Glasspole entertained the ladies in another room.
Also present from the Ministry of External Affairs were Mr. Louis Boothe and Mrs. Carmen Roberts.
