‘Day-end’ mindset before sleeping
We’re all familiar with the concept of ‘day-end’ in professional settings. Whether you’re in the corporate world, business, or managing a household, it’s about wrapping up tasks, addressing pending matters, and signing off for the day. This process ensures efficiency and readiness for a fresh start for the next day. But, have you ever wondered if a similar approach could benefit your personal life?
DO YOU JOURNAL THE RIGHT WAY?
Journalling is frequently recommended for mental clarity, but are we doing it effectively? Writing about our day or venting about problems reinforces negativity or gives temporary relief. The key lies in journalling in a way that empowers and declutters the mind before the day ends.
Think of it as cleaning your mind, just as you clean your house or body. Yet, many of us neglect this essential practice, leaving unresolved emotions and thoughts to pile up like mental clutter. Take a few minutes each night before bed to reflect and release. If possible, address troubling thoughts as they arise during the day. But, if you can’t, ensure you clear your mind before sleep, to prepare for a genuinely fresh start the next morning. Don’t start the day with a stale and stinky mind of yesterday’s unresolved matters.
BATHING MIND: DAILY PRACTICE
When journalling, people often focus on what went wrong or how others created challenges for them. While acknowledging these moments is important, stopping there can trap negativity in your subconscious, increasing its hold on your life.
To break this cycle, go a step further. Write down the negative experiences but continue with affirmations that empower you. For instance:
– “Their actions reflect their choices; I choose to forgive and move forward positively.”
– “I am in control of my peace and happiness.”
– “I love myself and choose to release what doesn’t serve my better self.”
This practice doesn’t necessarily resolve issues immediately, but it trains your mind to let go of problems and embrace solutions with positivity. Over time, it becomes a second nature – a daily habit to ‘bathe’ your mind. It becomes as essential as bathing your body, keeping your mind refreshed and free of emotional baggage.
MAKE EACH DAY NEW
Just as you wouldn’t leave your home dirty or your body unwashed, don’t let your mind remain cluttered. If you want to keep the year new and full of great opportunities, train yourself to keep each day new. Make ‘day-ending’ your mind a non-negotiable habit.
Every night, begin your journey toward a clearer mind and a more peaceful life. Cleanse your thoughts, release what doesn’t serve you, and prepare to wake up energised, fresh, and ready for a truly new day.
