The formula to enjoy life
Life is often measured by achievements, comfort, or success. Many of us have everything we once wished for, yet life feels empty.
The reason is not a lack of something but a divided way of living. When our attention is divided, our energy gets scattered. Enjoyment comes from something much simpler: living each moment in its totality, giving ourselves fully to the moment we are living.
DIVIDED ATTENTION DEPLETES ENERGY
Most of us live with a divided mind. While doing one thing, we are already thinking of the next. While working, we worry about the future. While resting, we replay the past. This constant inner division drains our energy and reduces our ability to feel content.
When energy is split, experiences lose their depth. Every pleasant or difficult moment feels incomplete because we are not fully there to receive them. When we resist or try to escape discomfort, its purpose remains unfinished. Fulfilment does not come from avoiding sorrow or chasing happiness. It comes from meeting every experience with full presence. When attention is whole, life flows with more ease and clarity.
WHY INTENSE EXPERIENCES FEEL SO ALIVE
Intense or thrilling activities make people feel alive because in moments of high focus – such as adventure sports or challenging situations – the mind cannot wander. There is no room for division. For a brief time, attention becomes one-pointed, and energy gathers naturally.
In those moments, people often say they felt “fully alive”. This feeling does not come from danger or excitement itself but from undivided presence. Such experiences remind us of our natural state when the mind is whole. However, we do not need constant thrills to feel this way. The same quality of aliveness can be experienced when we practise being fully present in simple actions. Whether drinking, eating, bathing, or driving, be wholly with the act. Train your mind not to jump to the next act.
BECOMING WHOLE AGAIN
Living fully means being whole in whatever you are experiencing. If happiness comes, allow yourself to feel it without fear or attachment. If sadness comes, stay with it gently, without judgment or resistance. Accepting the moment as it is and responding with awareness brings fulfilment. When attention is complete, even ordinary experiences become meaningful. A walk feels refreshing, a conversation feels connected, and silence feels nourishing.
Life is always happening in the present moment. The past exists only as memory and the future only as imagination. Fulfilment cannot be postponed. When you gather your scattered energy and live with total attention, life naturally becomes richer. To enjoy life is simple: be whole, and live every moment fully.
