Oyster Bay resort to build a dozen more villas
The Excellence Collection, owner of Oyster Bay resort, plans to invest US$7.5 million ($1 billion) to build more luxury villas in Jamaica.
The company wants to add 12 new villas to the current five, at its 320-room hotel complex on the north coast. The project falls within a US$50-million investment programme by the group to upgrade its hotels across the Caribbean. The family-owned company runs a collection of all-inclusive resorts in Jamaica, Dominican Republic and Mexico.
“The Excellence Collection will invest US$7.5 million to build 12 additional units at Excellence Oyster Bay in Jamaica, almost tripling its current offering to a total of 17 villas once completed,” the company said.
The villas rent for $310,000 a night, over four times the cost of the resort’s typical junior suites, at $69,000 a night, based on checks on the website.
The investment comes amid rising demand by guests desiring private pools within their beach villas, the company indicated. The villas will feature over 1,500 square feet of living space, a garden with a jacuzzi, a shaded porch, an outdoor lounge area with a pool, and a private stretch of beach.
