‘New Beginnings’ opens at the Gene Pearson Art Gallery
Art lovers have an opportunity to view the latest exhibition of the works of international painter and art professor Bryan McFarlane.
The exhibition, titled ‘New Beginnings’ , will run from March 9 to 30 at the Gene Pearson Gallery at R-Hotel, 2 Renfrew Road in Kingston. The opening reception takes place this Saturday at 6 p.m. The exhibition will be curated by Dr Jonathan Greenland, acting director of the National Gallery of Jamaica.
Gallery operator Evan Williams points out that the 14 pieces of art, constituting water colours and oil on linen, are from McFarlane’s collections and touches onthemes when he lived in China, Turkey and Africa.
“His large pieces, based on climate change from his research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, are particularly powerful and attractive masterpieces, as well as his ‘bicycle’ and‘ritual’ series”, notes Williams.
“This exhibition should not be missed.”
