Sisters shine as back-to-back 'Miss Girls' Town' winners
Seventeen-year-old Sharon Cuffe followed in her sister’s footsteps on Wednesday, winning the title of Miss Girls' Town 1974. Crowned by Mrs David Coore in a special ceremony at the school, Sharon’s victory comes just a year after her sister, Valerie Cuffe, held the same title.

Miss Girls Town Crowned
Seventeen-year-old Sharon Cuffe was crowned 'Miss Girls' Town' 1974 on Wednesday by Mrs David Coore, wife of the minister of finance, in a ceremony at the school.
Sharon’s sister, Valerie Cuffe, won the title last year. Sharon’s prize will be a trip abroad during the summer, but the destination will not be known until the graduation ceremonies at the end of term.
First runner-up for the title was Sheila Daley, and second runner-up Juliet Clarke.
Mrs Eli Matalon (wife of the minister of education) pinned the sash on Sheila and Julie Grenier, (sister of Rev Fr Louis SJ, chairman of the fund-raising committee) pinned the sash on Juliet.
The other seven finalists were Claudette Silvera, Sharon Henry, Elaine Dyer, Althea Whyte, Paula Waugh, Eileen Dyer and Sandra Pryce.
All the girls will receive prizes at graduation.
Mrs Kenneth McNeill (wife of the minister of health), who was one of the judges, announced the names of the winners of the contest. Other judges were Mrs Eli Matalon, Mrs John Smee, Miss Julie Grenier, and Mrs David Coore.
Valerie Cuffe, last year’s Miss Girls Town, presented a corsage to Mrs Huntings.
The Rev Fr Grenier proposed the vote of thanks.
Music was provided by the Jamaica Police Band.
