"Unicorn" the costume group that won the first prize for the best group from 50 to 100, sponsored by the Chinese Benevolent Association, during the grand Independence Gala at the National Stadium in August 1974.
"Revelation" a Costume Group by the Leston Youth Repair Club, during the grand Independence Gala at the National Stadium in August 1974.
"WONDERS OF THE SEA" a costume group sponsored by Grace Kennedy and Co. Ltd. passing through Marasceaux Road. This group won the first prize for groups over 100 and the first prize for best designer- Eddie Thomas.

In August 1974, Jamaica celebrated its 12th year of independence with a vibrant display of national pride, creativity, and cultural expression. The Grand Independence Gala at the National Stadium brought together thousands of Jamaicans to witness spectacular costume parades and performances.
