Being away from home is never easy, let alone finding an eatery your palate will appreciate. Fourteen and a half years ago, Christopher Roberts and Joan Lewis were faced with that dilemma. They set out to ensure that fellow Jamaicans whether residents or visitors to Queens, New York, would not have that experience.

After much research, The Door was opened on December 13, 2000 and has remained full ever since. This establishment opens daily and offers traditional authentic Jamaican culinary delights such as curried shrimp, oxtail, curry goat, jerked chicken, and escoveitched fish. This menu is complemented by their unique appetisers, desserts, and an extensive wine selection.

As you dine, you are transported to the island by the sweet reggae beats that are a staple in the restaurant, completing its Caribbean atmosphere.

Equipped to comfortably seat at least 150 persons hosting a party or celebrating a joyous occasion, The Door is the perfect spot. And if requested, persons wanting a more private atmosphere can book one of the two secluded dining areas and be completely locked off from 'John Public'.

Want to enjoy the authentic cuisine at home? No problem. The take-out window is open as early as 8 a.m. and closes at 11 p.m. daily to cook up the scrumptious meal of your choice.
