Sean Minor wines at home at Cellar 8
Cellar 8, the wine bar bistro in Manor Park, St Andrew, has welcomed Napa Valley's Sean Minor wines to the family. At the grand unveiling recently, the range of wines were paired with some great canapes from Chef Ramesh.
Sean Minor is a family-run business, operating out of Napa, California, that already has a great following in United States. The Cellar 8 wine guys discovered the winery in late 2017 on a trip to Chicago. Vikram Dhiman, Matthew Pragnell and Stephen Facey, are on the constant look out for tasty, varietal-true wines on their travels that will suit the Jamaican palette as well as complement Cellar 8's dining menu.
Pragnell said, "When I first tried the Napa 'cab', I was really impressed with the immediate fruitiness of this red, while still retaining that real cabernet earthy signature. I knew it would be a real treat with the Cellar 8 crowd."
According to blind scoring from the guests, Pragnell was right - the cabernet scored a massive 90 per cent approval rating.
Cellar 8 also showed the almost as highly rated (86 per cent) Sean Minor Chardonnay - a delicate citrus, vanilla with subtle oak white wine - as well as a robust Californian Red Blend with a jammy Zinfandel core and a lighter, silky-smooth Oregon pinot noir.
Dhiman said: "We've found that Jamaica is becoming more and more of a wine-loving nation. Our customers demand wider choice of both quality red and white drinking and food wines nowadays, but the wines must still remain accessible. Sean Minor fits that bill completely."
The Sean Minor Collection is a part of its CR8 Private Portfolio. The Sean Minor family of wines prides itself on having a 29-year history of producing wines which are known regionally for being expressive, approachable and priced in an affordable range. These wines are said to have value in every sip.
