VOX POP Jamaicans react to death of Fidel Castro
Former Cuban President Fidel Castro was considered a friend to Jamaica, over the years making several significant contributions to the development of his Caribbean neighbour. Several Jamaicans expressed their profound sadness on hearing the news of the 90-year-old's death on Friday night.
ISRAEL WILLACEY
Me like him. He was a very good man. I found no fault with him for he ruled Cuba well and put the people under manners.
DEVON DUNKLEY
What was important is that though I don't know the full history about it, he was a dictator, and what was outstanding about him is that he was strong and had great impact over Cuba. The people of Cuba are well-educated and they are able to survive on little and can be self-reliant.
DORRET BROWN
It's a sad death, and condolences go out to the family. He lived a good life and he did it for his country and his people.
GEORGE SOUTH
It is very tragic and a lot of Jamaicans are sorry about it because a lot of people have been talking about it.
TEDDY WILLIAMS
I like the fact that Castro educated his people and he made a level of equality, but I never liked the communist thing because people are supposed to be free, but he did Cuba well.
VOILET ELLIS
Well, I have always heard good stuff about Fidel Castro - how he is a good man and he doesn't believe that anyone should be above the other - so we just have to send condolence to his family.
