Defence attorneys today called the Crown’s key witness in the so-called police death squad case a liar, saying he has failed to provide consistent answers at the trial of the three policemen charged with the September 5, 2011 murder of Andrew Bisson.

The witness was testifying for the second consecutive day at the Home Circuit Court in downtown Kingston.

Detective Corporal Kevin Adams, District Constable Howard Brown and Constable Carl Bucknor are jointly charged with the murder.

The witness, a taxi operator, yesterday told the court that all three men returned to the scene the day after the incident.

But according to Brown's attorney, Valerie Neita-Robertson Q.C, the witness told the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) in a statement that only one of the men returned.

She asked the witness which of the accounts is true.

"Both of them are true," Brown responded.

Neita Robertson then sought to challenge the witness.

"You nuh give me no time to think," he retorted.

"You don’t need time to think about the truth, the truth flows like a river," Neita-Robertson told him.

It was a similar case as Bucknor’s attorney, K. Churchill Neita questioned the witness.

Neita pointed to one of the witness’ statements to INDECOM in which a woman was mentioned.

However, the witness testified yesterday that around eight men were at a board house when a group of policemen turned up and later killed Bisson.

"You don’t seem to have much respect for the truth," Neita told the witness. "You are a chronic and habitual liar."

Attorney Dwight Reece also sought to discredit the witness after the taxi operator said he did not know Bisson was the son of a policeman, although he said he knew him before the murder.

"You’re a stranger to the truth," Reece told the witness.

The trial will continue on Thursday.
