July roll-out for NIDS in Kingston

Minister without portfolio in the Office of the Prime Minister, Floyd Green, says the National Identification System (NIDS) will be rolled out in the Corporate Area beginning in July.

Green, who has responsibility for the NIDS, told lawmakers Tuesday that a pilot programme would begin in Kingston and St Andrew and that post offices would be used as centres to engage residents.

The Office of the Prime Minister will also partner with the Registrar General’s Department and the Electoral Office of Jamaica to roll out its services to the entire country towards the end of the year.
