‘New Millennium’ organisation gifts supplies to Port Antonio Hospital
PORT ANTONIO, Portland:
The Port Antonio Hospital on Friday received well-needed assistance in the form of medical supplies to assist with providing medication to users of that facility.
The donation came from Leaders of The New Millennium, an organisation geared at mentoring and providing service to humanity. The organisation was founded by the late Andrea Moore, former People’s National Party caretaker for Portland Eastern, along with her husband, Dr Howard Phillips.
Team leader Jonmark Gardener, who made the presentation, pointed out that the resources at hospitals are simply never enough to adequately meet their day-to-day requirements for providing quality healthcare to patients.
“We are a philanthropic organisation making this medical donation to the Port Antonio Hospital. This is the first of many things to come, and we have more in store for this hospital,” Gardener said.
Among the items donated were syringes, face masks, gloves, gauze rolls, ointment, pill crushers, alcohol, wipes, and generic medications.
In the meantime, Gillian Thompson, ward manager at the Port Antonio Hospital, who received the items on behalf of the facility, expressed appreciation for the supplies which, she said, would be utilised in assisting with patient care.
“I would just like to say a big thank you for your consideration and the donation of these items,” Thompson said.
“We will definitely be using them to help with patient care. And it will also assist efficiently with carrying out our duties to patients.”
The Port Antonio Hospital, which is a Type C health facility, provides patient care to approximately 60,000 residents living in eastern Portland and its environs.
