I have just heard the very sad news about Lindy Delapenha's death.

My friend Craig Hatton met him in Jamaica in 2009 and recounted the story of what a true gent he was and a true Boro legend! I am sure the Middlesbrough FC family will hold a minute's applause at our next home game.

I extend my sincere condolences to his family, friends and all Jamaicans who hold him in their hearts.

I never got to see him play, but I had planned to give my son the middle name Delapenha! Unfortunately, it was vetoed by my wife.

He has never been forgotten in Teesside, Middlesbrough, England. The world is a sadder place without him.
