Take your rest, Winnie

Published:Monday | April 2, 2018 | 12:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

We honour you Winnie, you kept the Mandela name alive. You laid the foundation for freedom. You fought against oppression. You fought racism. You were the symbol of South Africa's anti-apartheid struggle.

They beat you up. They mocked you. They locked you up. They tortured you. Guess what they couldn't do? They couldn't kill your spirit. Salute the strength of a woman. Take your rest, mother of freedom.

One Love! Jamaicans love you. You will live on in our hearts and mind. History will remember you.
