Extend life imprisonment to other crimes

THE EDITOR, Madam:

The recent announcement that those who are found with illegal firearms can face life imprisonment is welcome. But it must not stop there; life imprisonment should be extended to all murderers and wrongdoers, too.

A stiff-necked driver who ignores road traffic laws, causes an accident and death, should be given life imprisonment, too. This should also be for any hit-and-run motorist who kills someone.

Cold-blooded murderers should also be given life imprisonment.

If we are truly serious about defeating crime, the Government should consider the above suggestions. Many ‘bad bwoys’, who are guilty of murder and are still on the run, should be captured and put away, forever.

These people should be punished for their wickedness.

‘Back off with slackness’ (as the Astronauts said in one of their songs, some years ago). Also, the prisoners must not be be allowed to use cell phones in the prisons. Don’t make them comfortable.
