Don’t build on agricultural lands
THE EDITOR, Madam:
This is with reference to The Gleaner editorial ‘Stop housing on agri lands’ published on Thursday, September 8. This proves one thing, that the Government does not care about agriculture. If they did, they would know it is more profitable than tourism, and it is the key to true financial independence for Jamaica.
Just look at Russia; no matter how anyone tries to put sanctions on them, they are still making profits due to their agriculture and oil. Those are two things our politicians seem to take for granted and don’t put much investment in. The question is: What is the People’s National Party (PNP), our so-called Opposition doing? Are they not supposed to be addressing this and asking these questions? Clearly, the Jamaican people are not in favour of building houses on agricultural lands.
Then again, when has the Government, whether PNP or Jamaica Labour Party, ever done things that would benefit the Jamaican people; they just seem to waste our tax dollars.
