Kudos, NSWMA, for timely response
THE EDITOR, Madam:
In a world often characterised by complaints about inefficiencies and inadequate services, it’s important to pause and appreciate instances where organisations demonstrate their commitment to improvement and responsiveness. This is one of those times, as we extend our heartfelt thanks to the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) for addressing and resolving a pressing issue in our community.
A few weeks ago, we raised concerns about the challenges faced by residents in Duhaney Park due to irregular garbage collection. The situation had become so dire that weeks passed without the garbage being picked up, leaving our community in a state of neglect. To voice our concerns and seek a resolution, we turned to the NSWMA app, a channel provided to citizens for such purposes.
I personally made two complaints via the app, underscoring the urgent need for action and highlighting the impact of the neglect on my community’s well-being. The frustration was palpable, but the hope for change remained strong.
Shortly after, I received a call from a representative of the NSWMA, who expressed their sincere apologies for the delays and issues we had experienced. This simple act of acknowledgement meant a lot to me and residents of the community. It signified that our voices were heard, and our concerns were taken seriously.
More importantly, the NSWMA representative assured me that the administrative issues that had led to the irregular garbage collection were now rectified. As a result, we were promised a reliable garbage collection service every Thursday going forward.
This response from the NSWMA serves as a valuable reminder that sometimes, the most powerful solutions are those that stem from efficient communication and responsiveness. We often hear about the inefficiencies of state-run organisations, but it is equally important to acknowledge and commend them when they rise to the occasion, deliver on their promises, and demonstrate their commitment to serving the community.
In this case, the NSWMA not only addressed the immediate issue but also reached out to us to ensure that we were satisfied with the resolution. This level of follow-up and care is commendable, as it reflects a commitment to not only providing a service but also ensuring the well-being of the communities they serve.
As we express our gratitude to the NSWMA, we also use this opportunity to encourage other organisations to embrace responsiveness and strive for excellence in their services. The power of listening and acting is immeasurable, and it can transform challenges into opportunities for improvement.
Thank you, NSWMA, for your responsiveness, commitment, and for reminding us that positive change is possible when we work together.
MAKHAIL GRAHAM
