Help heroic Clarendon teens to attend school

THE EDITOR, Madam:

I am writing with reference to the article, ‘Easter Miracle’, published in The Sunday Gleaner on March 31.

I want to commend the three teenage heroes, Tyrese Wright, Roshane Roberts, and Kenny McKenzie who rescued the five-year old Davianne McDermott from drowning. I wish the child a speedy recovery, and that his mother will gets all help she may need in future.

With the heroes having no training in child cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), when the child was pulled out of the water they performed CPR on him, bringing him back to consciousness. This was amazing. I want to also thank the fourth rescuer.

I see potential in the three heroes, so I am respectfully requesting that the prime minister do whatever he can to ensure that they can attend school.

Dr Ben Carson is a retired American neurosurgeon, and a pioneer in the field of neurosurgery. He had many challenges when he was a child but was eventually able to overcome his challenges with the help of others. Every Jamaican should read about him and how he overcame his challenges. A Wikipedia article quotes: “While in ninth grade, he tried to stab a friend who had changed the radio station. Fortunately, the blade broke in his friend’s belt buckle”.

Please give the heroes hope; and follow up on the child’s recovery and his mother’s well-being.
