Letter of the Day | A boost for Brand Jamaica
THE EDITOR, Madam:
The recent opening of Juici Patties in Hollywood, Florida, is a small step for the company and a giant leap for Brand Jamaica. Since opening, Juici Patties has enjoyed in Florida, since its North American launch, some weeks ago. The number of new Juici Patties franchises slated to open in Florida is nothing short of phenomenal. Jamaica Broilers (JB) has also been blazing a trail of its own in the United States; and for this bold, timely and progressive corporate step, JB should be commended.
More local companies/brands should follow Jamaica Broilers’ and Juici Patties’ lead in making the international leap. Island Grill, Tastee, Devon House I-Scream and Scotchies are four excellent, successful and beloved authentic Jamaican brands that should consider launching in the US. In the case of Island Grill, such a move would be a relaunch.
The Jamaican diaspora love having a taste of their birthplace in their adopted homeland. It’s time that more home-grown businesses take Brand Jamaica to foreign markets. It would give visibility and grow their brand, offer their goods and services to the Jamaican diaspora and the native-born North Americans, Europeans, Asians and Africans alike. In the process, it will strengthen Brand Jamaica and earn much-needed foreign currency.
Congrats, Juici Patties and Jamaica Broilers.
