Calabar is crying out for change

THE EDITOR, Madam:

Calabar finds itself at a crossroads and the performance data presented paints a picture that depicts a need for change, but to target the acting principal may be a bit unreasonable. I would prefer to have the benefit of similar data for the past five years, in addition to average PEP scores of the past five matriculating cohorts. The declining academic achievement standards had to have been incremental (over the past five or so years) and not since Sian Wilson became acting principal.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, Calabar’s board should go in search of a new principal who can display a preliminary/skeletal strategic plan to resuscitate the school’s academic profile and improve overall discipline. My recommendation is not intended to reflect negatively on Ms Wilson, but after 28 years of service and the prevailing conundrum, the school is crying out for change. Good luck to CBar.
