Why are West Indies batters not rotating strike?

THE EDITOR, Madam:

New Zealand won the second T20 by three runs, third T20 by nine runs. West Indies lost the first ODI by seven runs. That means they lost by seven singles, WI are losing by singles! That shows the importance of running the first single hard, using soft hands to run the twos and threes. Ian Bishop has no hair on his head, and is now losing his eyebrows. Why are WI batters not rotating strike?

The intent was there in the second ODI, but that has to be there every single delivery. Daren Sammy needs to be prosecuted for crimes against West Indian batting, why is Amir Jangoo not being played, he has a ODI century on debut? What is Avenesh Seetaram’s role in the team and what is he accomplishing with those fancy screens?

The media and communications team for the West Indies are scrapping the barrel trying to find positive things to say at each interval and after each match on every social media post to gloss over the horrific performances. For God’s sake, showing highlights of Shai Hope and other players is not cheering us fans up.

The T20 downfall started after Rovman Powell’s sacking. Shai Hope and Jayden Seales are carrying the team, the players around Hope are poisoning his stats as captain. Sammy adopting Bazball tactics are suicidial, England just lost a test match against Australia within a two days.

It seems that Daren Sammy still thinks he is captain, he’s gone back to micromanaging, this time he’s doing it invisibly. The players as well need to take a long hard look at themselves in the mirror. Fine, we lost the series but still try and win the remaining games! Do these fellas not want their winning match fees?

The team should go back to basics, select players who are in form per format, run the singles hard, protect your wicket with your life, hunt every ball like wild meat, and bowl on fourth stump on a good length.

Let’s hope Ojay Shields does a ‘Shamar Joseph’ against New Zealand in the Test series. Come on fellas – dig deep!
