The 21st edition of the BET Awards aired live last Sunday from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. The ceremony’s theme was ‘Year of the Black Woman’ and was held in-person with a vaccinated audience, following the virtual ceremony in 2020.
The BET Awards honour the achievements of black individuals in music, sport, television, and movies.
The awards were first established in 2001 by the Black Entertainment Television network.
Hosting the ceremony was actress Taraji P. Henson. Audiences were also treated to a special appearance by Queen Latifah, who is this year’s recipient of the BET Lifetime Achievement Award. Something Extra shares some of the highlights.
