Annakay Williams making waves in design with stylish accessories

Annakay Williams started in beauty before transitioning to fashion. She created quite a trend with her stylish leather belts that she decided to take that luxury a step further. These days, Williams is doing the design rounds with gorgeous statement accessories. She tells us about the inspiration behind her jewellery journey.

In a recent interview with Living, she explained that her motivation came from creating a by-product from the leftover leather materials sourced to make her statement belts, “I primarily started this venture as a means of minimising the waste after producing our statement belts from the PU leather or polyurethane. I realised, however, that this creative outlet provided more therapy than I could have ever imagined.”

A fan of jewellery for most of her life, the mother of two recalled her own mother adorning both her and her sister in the most beautiful gold flower earrings with necklace and bracelets to match. Creating accessories was a passion that developed overtime.

Since becoming a jewellery designer and placing the pursuit under her Confident Authentic Woman (CAW) brand, she shared with great pride that her favourite piece is the butterfly. “It is a part of the metamorphosis collection,” she revealed, adding, “It reminds me of the innate ability I have to evolve and that all I have to do is to submit to the process of transformation. Additionally, it’s easy to wear because of its lightweight feature and it immediately makes a chic statement. Whether you are on vacation, going brunch or date night; It’s just inherently multifaceted.”

Creating memorable expressions of fashion through a mixture of leather and stainless steel in the metal section, the two elements work hand-in-hand to add dimension and functionality to the earrings. “I have a set of dye cutters with different shapes and that provides the base of the design. Thereafter, I begin to play around with different shapes, colours, textures and metal hardware to make the pieces. Most times, I flow with my creative intuition in the moment,” she added.

Because statement earrings are all the rave these days, the competition in the accessories department is intense. It is her hope that these earrings will help customers show up for the Confident Authentic Woman.

“Fashion helps form our identity, how we accessorize is what creates individuality. It’s the most important component of styling. Our accessories can communicate our mood, aspiration and intent. So, it’s absolutely important. Absolutely, I have used jewellery to change my looks,” she highlighted.

Currently working on distribution, she is looking to launch breathtaking pieces this summer and she is already making plans to enter the wedding industry. “I hope to build a community for women worldwide where we affirm each other in their confidence and authenticity,” Williams said.
