Public Utilities Show Unity
For the first time, all the providers of public utilities and telecoms services will accompany the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) on its all-island public education road show, beginning this month and ending in January 2016.
Consumer advocacy groups, the Consumer Affairs Commission and the Consumer Advisory Committee on utilities are also partners in the OUR's public-education thrust, while the National Housing Trust's Social Development Department will be providing support through its network of housing schemes to mobilise attendance.
The parish connections are a series of events aimed at reaching particularly our consumers in the under-served rural parishes of Jamaica. The aim is to facilitate active communications channel and to re-establish continuing consumer and stakeholder dialogue so that there can be a two-way flow of information to the OUR about consumer concerns.
