Singer to fully refurbish staff lounge at JC
Furniture giant Singer has offered to refurbish the entire staff lounge at Jamaica College (JC) for the new school year.
Yesterday, Singer presented a 14-cubic foot refrigerator to Jamaica College and, on seeing the condition of the staff lounge, the furniture store offered to have it fully refurbished to include a three-piece living room suite, a table set as well as other much-needed furnishing.
"We came, we saw, recognised the needs and we are going to come back again," said marketing manager at Singer, Simone Mahabeer.
When asked why a new refrigerator was needed, Betty Stephenson-Ashley, vice-president of the school's parent-teacher association, said that "the other one was too small and it has done its time".
She added that the refrigerator did not cater to the entire staff, which prompted JC to ask Singer to donate one, and "Singer being Singer did just that".
The fully refurbished staff lounge is expected to cater to 150 staff members, in order to "factor in everyone", added principal Ruel Reid.
Also present was the manager at the Singer Mega Store, Eunice Osbourne, who was elated with the idea of the lounge becoming a "Singer Staff Lounge".
