Hurricane Danny strengthens
Hurricane Danny has gained further strength as it heads towards the Leeward Islands but forecasters say it could weaken by tomorrow.
At 4:00 a.m. the centre of Hurricane Danny was located near Latitude 13.7 degrees north and Longitude 47.4 degrees west or about 1,590 kilometres east-southeast of the Leeward Islands.
Danny is moving toward the west-northwest near 17 kilometres per hour, and this general motion is expected to continue during the next day or so.
The Meteorological Service says a turn toward the west is forecast by Saturday night.
Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 140 km/h, with higher gusts.
According to the Met Service, some additional strengthening is possible today but Danny should begin to weaken on Saturday.
