During March, West Indies Alumina Company, WINDALCO, awarded five students of the University of Technology with scholarships totalling $150,000 each.

The scholarships were awarded to final year students studying various disciplines in the field of engineering, who were facing financial difficulties in completing their degrees.

WINDALCO's human resources director, Glendon Johnson commended the students for maintaining high grades in the face of the obstacles they faced. He said despite the downturn in the bauxite industry, WINDALCO remains resolute in its commitment to education and nation building.
