CB Facey Foundation awards scholarships
Six university students now have an easier way through college as their tuitions were fully covered by the C.B. Facey Foundation.
The students were hosted at a handover luncheon at the boardroom of the Pan-Jamaican Investment Trust Limited (Pan-Jam) recently. The students are: second-year master's students of the Caribbean School of Architecture at the University of Technology Jamaica Lionel Spence, Richard Josephs, Matthew MacFarlane, and Michael McFarlane; and Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts fine arts major Lydia Denny, and education major Shaniek Barclay.
The gathering was guided through a tour of the art collection on the two floors of Pan-Jam. Stephen Facey, chairman of the CB Facey Foundation and chairman and CEO of Pan-Jam, greeted the students and their teachers after the group watched the company's reflective documentary Strong Legacy Powerful Future.
The 22-minute piece was commissioned to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the private-equity company. Facey encouraged the students to seize this opportunity, and to appreciate the blessing they have been bestowed.
"Today, the foundation has placed within your grasp the tools to improve yourself, your family, and this nation," Facey said.
