UPDATE: Cop killed in Bustamante Highway crash identified
The police constable killed in a motor vehicle crash along the Bustamante Highway in Clarendon has now been identified.
He is 28-year-old Jaime Robinson of a Hatfield, Manchester address.
Robinson was attached to the Spanish Town police station in St Catherine.
He died some time after six o'clock last evening when the car he was driving slammed into another vehicle.
It is reported that the cop, who was driving a black Nissan Skyline motor car, allegedly overtook a line of traffic and failed to keep left.
He then collided into a truck, lost control of the vehicle, and slammed into the back of a truck which was parked along the road.
A team from the Clarendon Fire Department had to be called in to cut him from the car.
Constable Robinson was then rushed to the May Pen Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
