Public school teachers have rejected the Government's latest wage offer by a vote of 313 to 37.

The teachers, who are represented by the Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA), have been offered a 16 per cent wage increase over four years, but have instructed their union to head back to the negotiating table.

The teachers have previously rejected two offers that would have increased their salaries by six per cent over two years.

Today’s meeting was held at Wolmer’s High School for Boys in central Kingston.
