Bermudan arrested after drug found in suitcase at Sangster airport

A 31-year-old Bermudan national was arrested and charged for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act yesterday at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James.

He is Paulos Francis of Loyal Hill, Denishire, Bermuda.

Francis has been charged with Possession of Cocaine, Dealing in Cocaine and Attempting to Export Cocaine.

Reports are that about 5:00 p.m., Francis checked in at the airport and attempted to board a flight destined to Belgium when detectives from the Narcotics Division conducted a search of his suitcase.

During the search a false compartment was found. A rectangular shaped parcel, containing white powdery substance resembling cocaine, weighing approximately three and a half kilograms was found in the compartment.

The drug has been estimated to value $4.375 million

Francis is scheduled to appear before the St James Parish Court on Friday, April 6.
