After years of being stalled, the Vale Royal Talks, which facilitate bi-partisan dialogue between the two main political parties, will resume tomorrow Wednesday, April 4.

The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) today advised that the meeting will be held at the UWI Regional Headquarters in St Andrew beginning at 10:00 am and will discuss several issues including national security, electoral re-verification and the chairmanship of Parliamentary committees.

OPM says the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) team will be led by party leader and Prime Minister Andrew Holness and will include General Secretary Dr Horace Chang, JLP Chairman Robert Montague, Minister of Justice, Delroy Chuck and Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Audley Shaw.

The People's National Party’s (PNP) team will be led by party president and Opposition Leader Dr Peter Phillips accompanied by General Secretary Julian Robinson, PNP Chairman Fitz Jackson, Leader of Opposition Business in the House, Phillip Paulwell and Leader of Opposition Business in the Senate, Donna Scott-Mottley.

“As agreed by the political parties, all communication from the meetings will be done as joint statements. A joint-statement will be issued at the end of the bipartisan dialogue. The media will have an opportunity at 10:00 am to take pictures of the proceedings.”

The Vale Royal Talks were initiated over a decade ago with the aim of seeking political consensus on national matters.
