A one time shot, Trump says of summit with N Korea
President of the United States Donald Trump says next week's summit with his North Korean counterpart Kim Jong-un is a "one-time shot" at peace.
The two men are scheduled to meet in Singapore on Tuesday.
Speaking today before he left the G7 summit in Canada and head to Singapore, Trump described the summit as a "mission of peace."
He said the North Korean leader could do "something very positive for his people, for himself, his family", but acknowledged that they are both in "unknown territory in the truest sense".
The Trump administration is hoping that the talks will jump-start a process that eventually sees Kim give up his nuclear weapons.
