Marcia Stephenson (centre), who gave birth at 12:06 a.m. on New Year’s Day at the St Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital, shares a laugh with Donna Coombs (left), Lieutenant governor of Kiwanis International Division 24, and Patricia Simpson of Cari-Med. Stephenson gave birth to Amara Chambers, who weighed nine pounds, 10 ounces. Coombs led a team of Kiwanians to the hospital on New Year’s Day to present over 40 gift packages to the first born on New Year’s Day and other mothers and babies, as well as to staff on the Maternity Ward. Nurse Ethel Agu said two babies were born early on January 1, with two others expected later in the day. The gift packages were sponsored by Cari-Med, which was represented by Abigail Tucker and Simpson.
