Parent, teachers group concerned about growing violence in schools
The National Parent Teachers' Association of Jamaica (NPTAJ) says it's very concerned about the growing incidences of violence involving parents, teachers and students.
According to the NPTAJ), this violence reflects the present situation in our society and the school is a microcosm of this society.
"The NPTAJ posits that the solution to these incidences of violence in our school must be found through the continued engagement of Parents, Students and Teachers," the organisation said in statement today. "The NPTAJ condemns all acts of violence from whatever quarter," it added.
The NPTAJ said it will seek to engage not only our parents, but also our student association and the Jamaica Teachers' Association (JTA) with the intention of reducing and eliminating violence in our institutions of learning.
