Opposition congratulates Courtenay Rattray on UN appointment
Opposition Leader Mark Golding has congratulated Courtenay Rattray on his appointment as Chef de Cabinet to the United Nations Secretary General, António Guterres.
Rattray is the first Jamaican to the office at the United Nations.
"Courtenay Rattray is one of Jamaica's finest diplomats. He has served our country with distinction over many years, and his effectiveness at the highest level has been duly recognised by this appointment within the United Nations system” said Golding.
Before his appointment as Chef de Cabinet, Rattray served as Jamaica's Permanent Representative to the UN.
As a diplomat in the foreign service, Rattray also served as Jamaica's Ambassador to China and deputy chief of mission at the Embassy of Jamaica in Washington, D.C.
Rattray has given outstanding service to Jamaica for more than 30 years in the public and private sectors.
He was an executive director at Jamaica Marketing Company and a director at Jamaica Trade and Investment Promotion Corporation (JAMPRO).
