The National Works Agency (NWA) is urging motorists using several corridors in St Mary, Portland, and St Thomas to exercise extreme caution as heavy rains continue to impact roads.

The NWA says there have been instances of flooded roads, landslides, and breakaways.

NWA Manager, Communication and Customer Services Stephen Shaw says that among the corridors being impacted is the road through the Junction in St Mary and the Churchill Corner main road in Portland.

Rockfall is impacting the Junction.

Also in St Mary, the main road from Grandy Hole to Scotts Hall is being impacted by landslides and fallen trees.

The road, which was earlier today rendered impassable, has since been reopened to single-lane traffic.

In Portland, a section of the Churchill Corner to Muir Park road has broken away.

The road from Windsor to Moore Town is again being impacted by heavy siltation in the Long Level area.

The NWA says the corridor through the Breastworks community continues to be flooded in the vicinity of M Square Supermarket, while sections of the Spring Bank main road have been badly scoured.

Shaw says that landslides are impacting the road through Black Hill, where the corridor is now opened to single-lane traffic and that flooding is affecting the road through Hope Bay in the Hermitage area.

In St Thomas, flooding was experienced in Port Morant.

The area is low-lying and experiences flooding in high-intensity rainfall.

The NWA says it is expected that the drainage issue in Port Morant will be dealt with through Tranche Three of the Southern Coastal Highway Improvement Programme (SCHIP).
