Lions spread Christmas joy at Annie Dawson Home

In a heart-warming tradition that started four years ago, under the leadership of Melissa Taylor, the Lions Club of Mona recently came together once again to celebrate the spirit of Christmas at the Annie Dawson Home for Children.

The 2023 event, aptly themed ‘Joyful Jingle’, proved to be a resounding success, thanks to the dedication and generosity of the Lions Club and its donors.

“The Mona Lions and Leos, along with our donors, have been serving from the depths of our hearts with kindness and compassion,” expressed Lion President Chevaughn Sutherland, who noted that their support and dedication have been instrumental in making the annual event a continued success.

Unmistakable spirit of festive cheer

On Christmas Day 2023, the Lions and Leos visited the Annie Dawson Home bearing gifts of food items, toiletries, and personal care products. Additionally, a delectable Christmas meal was served, spreading joy and filling the air with the unmistakable spirit of festive cheer.

Sutherland was elated on witnessing the Lions and Leos working tirelessly, akin to Santa’s little helpers. He highlighted that the purpose of the day was not only to share the joy of Christmas with the residents of the home, but also to create an environment where they could truly feel the essence of celebrating Christmas with family.

As the day unfolded, laughter, smiles, and heartfelt conversations filled the air, creating an atmosphere of love and togetherness. The Lions, Leos, and their guests ensured that every resident felt valued and cherished, igniting a sense of belonging and reminding them that they are not alone during this festive season.

The Lions Club said the Joyful Jingle event would not have been possible without the collective efforts and support from its Lions, Leos, donors, and volunteers.

“A special thanks to Lions Gail Hudson and Neville Bennett from the Portmore and St Andrew Central clubs, respectively, who have been supporting this initiative since its inception,” the club noted after the event. “Their selfless dedication and commitment have left an indelible mark on the lives of the residents of the Annie Dawson Home, and their actions serve as a shining example of the true spirit of Christmas.”

The club added that, as the event came to a close, the Lions, Leos, and their guests departed “with hearts filled with gratitude and joy”.

It continued: “The memories forged, and the impact made, will continue to resonate and serve as a reminder of the power of compassion, and the importance of spreading love during the holiday season.”
