Teen, man charged over Spanish Town kidnapping of businessman

A date is being finalised for the accused to appear in court.

A 17-year-old boy is among two persons charged in connection with the kidnapping of a businessman in Spanish Town, St Catherine.

The teen boy and 33-year-old Andrew Williams, otherwise called 'Biggs', a higgler of Tawes Meadows in Spanish Town are charged with conspiracy to kidnap, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and using a prohibited weapon to commit felony.

A date is being finalised for the accused to appear in court.

The police report that the man was taken from his business place in Spanish Town and Williams made a demand of $100,000 for his safe return.

A report was made and a police team, acting on intelligence, led an operation.

Both accused were arrested and the businessman was rescued.

They were later charged after a question-and-answer session in the presence of their attorney.
